Please be advised that we do indeed have a Pony Club meeting this weekend, at our regular summer hours (check our website calendar if you forget what they are :) Older members - if you can bring your Strangles/biosecurity package, my plan is to keep working on that.
All members are reminded that I'm asking for a printed/signed copy of the biosecurity document I sent out last week - this is really important to ensure the health and wellbeing of my horses (and any other horses you spend time with). Camp forms MUST be handed in ASAP - Anyone looking to book riding lessons this weekend should get in touch with me at [email protected] - spaces are limited and this time of year, they fill up quickly! One last thing - if you see Abby Manuel-Bubar or my very own Caroline Blakely, please congratulate them - they are graduating from FHS tomorrow night - both are a very big part of Fredericton Pony Club and are wonderful role models for our members!

We will have a "barn duty" session this weekend for Pony Club. Because it's a long weekend and I expect that quite a few members will be away, we will combine both groups (older and younger) from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and we will be doing all the things that a horseowner has to do on a daily basis to care for the animals - the kids actually love doing barn chores, for the most part, and I can't stress enough the importance of teaching them the actual skills (cleaning stalls, etc.) but also the responsibility that goes along with owning horses. It's also part of our "giving back" belief - we roll up our sleeves and help out when we are needed.
As far as our Biosecurity practices - please note the following:
If you're looking for the Camp registration form, it's on our website, on the FORMS page - please make sure you get yours in as soon as possible. If your child is attending both camps, you only need to pay the deposit once. We are also looking for some fresh faces on our Fundraising Committee - if you've got a bit of time and energy to help, we would like to organize a fundraiser soon to help pay for things that will be happening this summer/fall. Many hands make light work! I'm watching the forecast carefully and hope that we can have our meeting tomorrow - please check your email and the Facebook page tomorrow. (If you haven't already liked the Fredericton Pony Club Facebook page, and/or the Instagram page, I encourage you to do so!) This storm seems to be significant so we'll wait and see for now.
If possible, I'd ask that your child bring a pencil or pen, their Pony Club manual and if they have a clipboard, that would be great. We're going to be working on horse health and I have a worksheet for them to do. Thanks! Good morning everyone,
I've been awake most of the night with a migraine, so unfortunately, I'm really not feeling up to hosting a meeting today. I'll put together some homework that the kids can do this week so they still have something "horsey" to do 😊 I'm sorry to reschedule, but I'm hoping to get some sleep at some point today. Could you please email me or comment on this Facebook post so I know you got the message? Thanks, and sorry again. This is just a reminder to all of you (as well as a few people who have been wondering about Pony Club) that we have a very special event this weekend! The January Thaw Equine Expo (www.januarythaw.com) is a fundraiser for the Children's Wish Foundation - and the horse community of New Brunswick puts on a fantastic day for everyone - there is a lot to see and do, not just for horse people 😊 It's held at the Fredericton Exhibition Centre.
Pony Club has a booth, and I will be there the full day. Our booth has all kinds of Pony Club related stuff to see and talk about 😊 I will be there from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (at the latest - last year we started tearing down booths at 4:15 because it was getting quiet) - so I encourage you to come check it all out! There are 70 different Exhibitors - you can shop too! There are bouncy horses to play on, demonstrations, and tons of information. Lots of raffles as well. If your child would like to "help" at the booth, they are welcome to do so. Please note that I stay at the Pony Club Booth all day, so I'm not able to supervise your munchkins if they want to go check out other booths, buy food, etc. - I ask that you determine whether your child can spend a long or short time there if you're not staying with them! If they're coming, I'd love to see them wearing as much of their Pony Club clothing as possible. We are proud of our club and we want everyone to know who we are!! My cell number is 447-1763, and I'd ask that each of you text me so I have all your numbers. As I've indicated before, there will not be Pony Club at my place on Sunday (Jan 21) because I'll be away Saturday night and Sunday. If you have any questions, please let me know - otherwise, I hope you have a chance to visit this great horsey event in our community! Please be advised that we will have Pony Club tomorrow at our regular "winter hours":
Younger Members (6-9) 2:00 - 3:15 Older Members (10+) 3:30 - 4:45 As you know, it is bitterly cold. Everyone should be dressed appropriately (winter boots, snow or splash pants, THICK gloves or mittens (with those little handwarmers is even better) - and a good hat/balaclava. (On a side note, I have FPC winter hats available for sale if your child brings $15.00 with them). A good idea is to check out a used clothing store for a "barn coat/snowpants" - used gear that is a little big on your child so you can layer underneath. That way they stay warm and you don't have to worry about them getting their good clothes stinky or dirty! A few reminders:
This is a reminder that we have Pony Club at my place this weekend, at our regular WINTER HOURS:
Younger Members 2:00 - 3:15 Older Members 3:30 - 4:45 I'm keeping an eye on the weather and if it's going to be rotten out, we will cancel. I'll email you and also post it on the Fredericton Pony Club Facebook page - if you haven't already liked the page, you should 😊 I've attached a worksheet for the OLDER MEMBERS that goes along with the lesson they had last week. They don't need to finish it for this Sunday. We will be doing a number of lectures in 2018, so we will review this information in the new year. If your OLDER MEMBER child has their own email address, could you please send it to me so we can create our own mail group for them? Thanks! I'm hoping to do a little bit of stall decorating for Christmas this coming Sunday - this is all dependent on whether I can find some time to go pick up some things to decorate with :) If your kids want to bring anything to decorate in the barn, they can - no glass or breakable/valuable items please! There are no guarantees that it will be returned to you (horses like playing with stuff). If you want your child to receive a Christmas Membership Gift, we need your forms and payments ASAP - the absolute LAST DAY is December 17. It takes time to put things together and get them to you - so help us by getting them in earlier if possible. Your cheque can be postdated to January 1 - but your NBEA membership MUST accompany your membership forms. We'll let you know when the clothing order is ready to be picked up - and of course all members will be getting a few surprises at our badge ceremony/Christmas party next weekend - should be a lot of fun! Also, a gentle reminder that you should not be driving up my driveway - someone's Dad did last weekend... my family is very supportive of my horses and all the kids who come to visit - but we are a very busy family and they are not happy when their cars/the driveway are blocked. Thanks! Last thing - please let me know if your child/siblings are coming to Christmas Eve Barn Duty - I will have treats for them, so I need to know how many to pick up :)
Hi everyone, please be reminded that our CLOTHING ORDER is due March 24 - no extensions are possible if we want to have items in time for the Regional Quiz.
I would strongly encourage you to drop those off today if at all possible. I am out of town next weekend at a Coaching workshop - I won't get your order until after the deadline and we don't want to take a chance that it's too late to submit it. Please don't forget that you must have your payment and order form in an envelope or sealed baggie with your child's name on it. ALL ORDERS SHOULD BE GIVEN TO ME (Heather), and I'll give them to Amy to organize and send in. All families will have received the order form by email several times, so please check and print it off. Here are a few extra things for you to know:
April 8 - Grooming Clinic at Hampton Pony Club October 15 - Regional Youth Education Conference in Sussex (all day) - this is a new event for our region and looks like it's going to be an incredible day! We will need parent helpers that day (as requested by the organizers).
Happy Blizzard, everyone...it's crazy out there tonight!
I thought I'd send a few reminders of important dates, and include documents that you'll need for these events. Please note that there are a few date changes - if you're not sure, the www.frederictonponyclub.net ACTIVITIES CALENDAR is always the correct date (sometimes I forget to change things in the documents). For those of you who are new to FPC, don't be scared! Pony Club Activities are meant to be FUN and educational. You don't have to go to all of them - you choose what's right for you and your family :) You don't have to have a horse to attend Camp or Regional events. ALL ARE WELCOME! If you'd prefer to go watch any of these activities instead of competing, that's great too - the only exception would be the Quiz. You have to participate if you want to go. More things will be added - but these are things you should add to your calendar for now! So - you should know the following: Sunday, March 19 - Badge Day with Stacey (details to follow) Friday, March 24 - DEADLINE FOR CLOTHING ORDER Sunday, March 26 - Tack Shop Visit (North Stream Farm Tack Shop, address is on the calendar) 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Karen will demonstrate proper gear and how to fit helmets correctly. Lots of shopping to do too :) This is our Pony Club Activity for the weekend - I will be in Moncton at a Coaching Theory course. Friday, March 31 - Deadline to register for Regional Grooming Clinic Sunday, April 2 (TENTATIVE) - Mandatory Parent Meeting 3:00 - 5:00 - details to be announced soon. Sunday, April 2 - Deadline to register for Regional Quiz April 22-23 - Regional Quiz at Snider Mountain Ranch July 3-7 - Pony Club Camp # 1 July 7 - Regional Tetrathalon Day (Hampton Pony Club) July 8 - Regional Show Jumping (Cardwell Pony Club in Penobsquis) July 24 - 28 - Pony Club Camp # 2 August 25-27 - Regional Rally (Cardwell Pony Club) November 4-5 - Testing Day at FPC (this has changed from a date announced earlier) Hi Folks,
Just wanted to let you know that the older group will be working on the "FeedRite Easy Rider" badge this Sunday. This badge focuses on proper feeding and watering for horses in different seasons and nutrition. We will be having a guest speaker - Rachelle Ramey from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Please note that the session will take place at a different time and location than usual - from 2:30pm-4:00pm at Little Munchkins Club House ( 2288 Hanwell Road). It would be great for all older members to attend and complete this badge - please respond and let me know if you will be attending. See you on Sunday. Younger members will meet at the regular time / regular place. I will be working on beginner badges with the younger group in March on the 19th. So brush up on parts of the pony, parts of the saddle, parts of the bridle, and colours and markings!! Stacey FPC Badge Coordinator Just letting you know that we will indeed have Pony Club this weekend - no storms, my back is feeling quite better - I miss my munchkins!
Meeting times are, as always, easily found on our website's Activities Calendar if you need to refresh your memory. A reminder: please don't turn around in my neighbours' driveways - they get annoyed! Drive up to the top of the street and loop back around! I've also made the decision that I won't be running the March Break Camp - there were very few people who were able to attend, and with all this snow, if would be be very challenging to have group rides. I will, however, be available for lessons throughout the week for anyone who's looking for some extra time at the barn. Have a great day and see you Sunday! Because of my ongoing back issues, Pony Club is cancelled for tomorrow (February 12, 2017) - I'm very sorry for the change in schedule but unfortunately I'm not very mobile at all.
See you next week! Hi everyone!
Just a reminder that we have a Branch Meeting this weekend at our regular "Winter Hours": Please make sure your kids are dressed VERY WARMLY (including snowpants or multiple layers). 6-9 Year Olds 2:00 - 3:15 10+ Year Olds 3:30 - 4:45 I have had a few complaints from my neighbours - they don't want people turning around in their driveways - PLEASE GO TO THE TOP OF THE STREET and circle around (it is a big loop). Pony Club is about being a good citizen and neighbour - thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Please also make sure that your child has used the washroom before you leave home - it seems that I have very frequent requests to use my washroom and it disrupts my family - my dogs bark every time someone opens the door. Thank you! If you have your camp registration form, please bring it - so far I have only received 1. If I don't have at least 4 campers, I will have to cancel it. If necessary, you can pay the deposit a little later - but I have to know who is attending ASAP. |
