Hi Everyone,
Just a reminder that our Fredericton Pony Club AGM meeting is scheduled for January 14th 1-3pm at The Ville in the Community Room. This is an important meeting for all FPC parents to learn about what has taken place over the past year as well as to help with planning for the upcoming year. This is a chance to get your voice heard in deciding how FPC operates & what activities might be organized for FPC members. Following the AGM piece of the meeting, committees will get together to start planning for the year. Please make every effort to attend as the success of Pony Club relies heavily on its volunteers!! Many hands make light work. The agenda was sent to our email group - if you did not get it, please let Heather know. Please note: If parents need to bring their children that's okay, but it is a 2 hour meeting so if at all possible, it would be best if children didn’t attend as that’s a long time to entertain themselves. Thanks, Tracy Assistant DC/Volunteer Coordinator Hi everyone,
in case you're not sure, ALL are welcome to attend our Badge Ceremony Party this Sunday, January 8 (2-4 pm at Little Munchkins Preschool, 2288 Hanwell Road) - if you're just starting Pony Club, you can bring all your paperwork and fees to us...if your child is finishing up with Pony Club, they can come pick up their badges. I always put event information on our website's Activities Calendar as well as the InfoBlog, also on the website (www.frederictonponyclub.net)www.frederictonponyclub.net and I also post on our Fredericton Pony Club Facebook page - so if you're not sure, those are places you can check :) If you're coming to the party, please plan on contributing a snack or beverage for the group -- the more, the merrier! Happy Holidays FPC Members!
Our badge ceremony is being rescheduled for this Sunday, January 8th from 2-4pm at Little Munchkins Clubhouse (2288 Hanwell Road). The first hour will be outdoor activities, then hot chocolate/cookies and games, followed by badge presentation. For those who have not yet registered for 2017, please bring forms and payment with you on Sunday. We will also have T-shirts and hats available for purchase. Hope to see everyone there. Stacey FPC Badge Coordinator I hope you've all had a wonderful holiday so far and that your kids have enjoyed the snow and family time :) I'm around this week if anyone wants a lesson - it's fun to ride in the snow!
If you haven't yet submitted your 2017 paperwork and fees, please let me know when we can expect these. As I've mentioned before, NBEA memberships expire December 31 - so if you haven't renewed, your child has no liability insurance until you renew (the only exception to this is for anyone who joined NBEA Sept 1 or later - you are covered until the end of 2017). When you submit your membership things, please make sure you submit the following: - 2017 Canadian Pony Club Application - 2017 NBEA membership card (please go to "your" account at www.nbea.ca to print this off) - 2017 FPC Membership Application - $340.00 Yearly Fees (this is for anyone who started in FPC between January 1 - August 30, 2016, or anyone starting for the first time in 2017) - $240.00 Yearly Fees (for anyone who joined FPC Sept 1 - Dec 2016) Please note: our lives are MUCH MUCH simpler if you make sure to include EVERYTHING in your paperwork. Please take the time to print off your NBEA card to include with your 2017 form. It's very time-consuming to try and track them down - and we need to submit your paperwork to Canadian Pony Club in a timely fashion. Thank you! You can drop everything off to me (in my mailbox if that's easier) and I'll make sure it gets processed as quickly as possible. Hi everyone,
Just to let you know - I've emailed our Party Committee to see if we are still a go for today - as soon as they make a decision, I'll email you again. If you don't hear anything, you can assume that the party is still a go. I've emailed all of you the "Christmas letter" - if your child is getting their membership for Christmas, you can print it off. Please be aware that they cannot attend club activities until their membership is renewed. If you need to make payment arrangements, you can do that through Stacey, our Treasurer. Just a friendly reminder that our Pony Club activity this weekend will be our Christmas Party and Badge Ceremony - it will be a wonderful chance for our whole Pony Club family to get together :) As you know, it will be 1:00 - 4:00 at the Ville Centre in Marysville. This information is on our website calendar as well http://www.frederictonponyclub.net/activities-calendar.html, and I also try to add these updates to our InfoBlog, also on the website.
Please also note the following: - you will be able to submit your registration forms/2017 payments to Stacey at the party (it's not required - but for insurance reasons, your child can't participate in 2017 activities until NBEA and Pony Club forms/payments are received. This is a directive from Canadian Pony Club.) All the forms and information was sent to you last week or so. If you are planning on giving your child their 2017 membership as a present, I need to know by Saturday, Dec 17 so I can get the letter ready for you to put under your tree. - the Clothing Order has arrived! I hope to have these items with me Sunday, but I'll keep them out in my truck. If your child is getting an item for Christmas, come find me (or Caroline) and we will quietly get it to you :) - there will be Pony Club T-shirts and winter hats for sale as well for last-minute Christmas ideas if you're interested. - I would LOVE to try and get a picture of the entire group at the party - this is a wonderful group of kids (and parents) and if we can pull it off, I'd love to try! - Sachelle and the fundraising committee will be distributing chocolate bars/instructions at the party - - please note that we won't have Pony Club on December 25 or January 1. I'm sure you're all ok with that :) I am, however, extending an invitation to any Pony Clubbers who would like to do "Christmas Eve Barn Duty", I will be out in the barn from 1:00 - 3:00 pm on December 24. This was a tradition at Fredericton Pony Club when I was a kid and I'm happy to try to keep this going :) They can drop in and give their favorite equine/feline friend a treat and a pat, have some hot chocolate and spend a bit of time if they wish. Please let me know if I should expect your child/family so I know how many treats to prepare. If your child wants to bring the horses treats, the following are acceptable: - apples - carrots - apple juice - molasses - peppermints - one last thing: if your child is NOT returning to Pony Club next year, could you please let me know so I can remove you from this mailing list? I don't want to clutter up your mailbox with things you don't need. I think that's all for now - I look forward to seeing all of you on Sunday! 1. Prince Philips Games Day message from Stacey - Saturday, December 10:
Only a few days away from the PPG in Hampton this Saturday. I have the following members signed up to go: Morgan Killingbeck Sarah Gaines Dannika Lockhart Jessica Brewer Josie Davenport Emma Hunter If there are others interested, please email me at [email protected] by end of day today. The cost is $20 - which can be e-transferred to me at that email as well. Stacey need to send off the final numbers to Jenn Hanson (Hampton Pony Club) TODAY. You do not need horse experience to participate! 2. Because of the PPG day, there will not be Pony Club at Shadow Lane Farm on Sunday. 3. I'm attaching information about renewing memberships for 2017. Please read the instructions and carefully complete the paperwork. IF YOU'D LIKE YOUR 2017 MEMBERSHIP TO BE A CHRISTMAS PRESENT, we need to know ASAP so we can get your "present" ready to put under the tree :) 4. As you may have heard, we had an unfortunate accident happen last Sunday with the older kids. Abby, one of our members, was bitten by Dash (the boarder who lives in my barn). I want to let everyone know that safety is my absolute top priority, as the kids know - I am very strict about safety in the barn and around the horses. Abby did not do anything unsafe. Dash's owner has been notified and was extremely upset - she is voluntarily removing him from my barn. This was very upsetting to our members and me. If you can please explain to your child that he won't be there much longer (she is looking at options right now to determine what happens next), that would be great. The most important thing is that Abby is ok and is looking forward to returning to her favorite place, the barn. 5. Our Fundraising Committee has ordered chocolate bars for our members to sell - these will be distributed soon - once the committee sends me an update on schedule, etc. I will send this to everyone. Hi everyone,
just letting you know that yes, we will have Pony Club this weekend, but we will be moving to our "Winter Hours" from now until the spring. It's too cold to be outside as long as we are in the warmer months, and I find that the kids just end up in the tack room where it's warmer. We want quality time over quantity! Our Winter Hours are as follows: Younger members 2:00 - 3:00 Older Members 3:15 - 4:45 A few other notes: - clothing order has been sent and is planned for delivery on December 19. - I have had 1 parent offer to volunteer on the Regional Board - I would love to have a few more Fredericton parents around the table - please let me know if you'd like to take part! We have a meeting this weekend (Sunday morning) so if you'd like to join the board, you can drive with me - it's not hard and it's essential for parents to get involved to make Pony Club a great experience. - next weekend (December 10) is our Regional Prince Philip games, at Hampton Pony Club - if your child still wants to participate, all our welcome - no riding experience is necessary and all precautions are taken to ensure that everyone is safe and has a BLAST! As always, I ask that you reply so I know you've received this information, and let me know if your child will be attending FPC this weekend. Thanks! Hi everyone,
our weather situation has held off, which is great - however the work we started today isn't finished so I'm not going to have a regular FPC meeting tomorrow. Today we built another stall door, built a new fence and a bridge - tomorrow I need to finish fixing another fence and do our other 'pre-winter chores' - it's VERY muddy and it's just easier if I do it without all my 'helpers'. If your kids want to come by between 4-5 to help do evening chores, they can do that - and you can drop off clothing orders at that time. That gives them a little "pony time" if they miss their buddies! Thanks for your support and understanding - I love seeing your kids, but between the outdoor work and school work that needs to get caught up, I just don't have a lot of time this weekend. Hope to see you tomorrow! Hi everyone,
just wanted to let you know that I won't be doing any riding lessons this weekend - we have a number of things we need to get done around the farm (repairs, winterizing) and it's a lot easier to do the work when there's daylight and we don't have horses in and out of the barn constantly...also it's nice when I'm able to help my dear husband! On top of all that, I have a our NB-PEI Regional Pony Club meeting Sunday morning in Moncton - I'm the Regional Chair - I need a little downtime. I'm pretty tired these days. I'm hopefully going to be able to have Pony Club on Sunday - it will depend on whether we get our jobs done (I think we will) and weather. I'll let you know as soon as I make a decision on that, so please keep checking your email, and I also post the most important information at http://www.frederictonponyclub.net/fpc-info-blog - so you can always check there and/or on the website Activities Calendar. Please don't forget - I cannot, cannot extend our clothing order deadline - if I don't have it by Sunday, it won't be ordered. If you're concerned about weather, please fax/scan it to me at 357-3604 before the end of the day FRIDAY - you can bring payment later or send an e-transfer to Stacey at [email protected].
We are having our NB-PEI Regional Pony Club AGM on Sunday, November 27, 2016 (9-12) in Moncton. We are always looking for new volunteers to help with all areas of Pony Club. I know for certain we need a new Secretary and a new Membership Chair. We also could certainly put you to work if you are interested in helping with a number of different areas. I’ve attached a list of all the positions and who is currently in them – but we definitely can have co-chairs in any area if you’d like to get involved. Pony Club is about parents and families pitching in and helping make a great experience for their kids. Most of the parents have little/no horse experience, so don’t be shy!
I’m driving down Sunday morning and have room for a few people – come join us! This Sunday is the last opportunity to earn badges before our Badge Ceremony in December so things are going to work a little differently this weekend. Please read carefully and note the following:
Between 2:00pm and 3:30pm, we will have stations set up to complete Beginner Badges. So t he younger members (6-9 year olds) are to come at that time as well as ALL older members (10+ years) who have not yet completed the following badges: * Parts of the Pony - Being able to point out at least 10 parts of the pony on a real horse. * Parts of the Saddle - Being able to point out at least 10 parts of the saddle including girth, saddle pad, and stirrups. * Parts of the Bridle - Being able to point out at least 5 parts of a bridle. * Colours and Markings - Create a poster using cut outs from old horse magazines showing 5 different colours, 4 different face markings, and 3 different leg markings. (Anyone who has old magazines that they could donate for this activity would be appreciated!) * I Love My Pony - Create an identity card that includes the pony's name, height, gender, age, breed, and colour/markings as well as the members name, age, and branch. The card can be decorated with stickers and will include a picture of the pony. We will have pictures and information on the 5 Pony Club ponies that members can use but they are welcome to bring in information and a picture of a pony they choose from home as well as stickers or anything else they would like to use to decorate their card. Note that any members who went to camp need to complete the "I Love My Pony" badge to get their "Camp" badge (this includes Charlotte Pond, Hannah Knorr, Hope Connors, Laura How, Madison Miller, and Rachel Haanstra) Between 3:30pm and 5:30pm, the older members will have the opportunity to finish badges that have been partially completed: * Handling & Grooming: Being able to catch a pony in the field, put halter on and off, leading a pony (away, turn, stand, trot), release a pony in the stall, put on cross ties, and tie a quick release knot. Knowing when to groom and why and being able to identify the grooming tools (curry comb, dandy brush, body brush, face brush, mane/tail comb, hoof pick, sweat scrapper, shedding blade), their purpose, the order they are used in, and demonstrate how they are used. (Those who have partially completed this badge include Lola Trembath, Jorja Bubar, Maja Mooers, Rachel Haanstra, and Sophia Mason) * Saddlery & Tack Care: Know the materials required to clean tack, take apart/clean/put tack back together, know the basics of properly fitting a bridle and saddle, and show that they can bridle and saddle a horse. (Those who have partially completed this badge include Emma Hunter, Hannah Cruickshank, Jenna Fidler, Josie Davenport, and Sarah Gaines) Anyone who has materials for badges they have been doing on their own, should bring them this Sunday so that I can give them credit for completion. Please let me know if you have any questions. See you on Sunday. Stacey Badge Coordinator |
